FinRegLab is committed to maintaining the integrity and privacy of your personal information. This privacy policy is intended to explain our information collection and dissemination practices in connection with the FinRegLab family of websites located at https://finreglab.org/ and any email, text and other electronic messages between you and our websites.

Information We Collect

In order to monitor our websites’ performance, provide you with a better experience when visiting our websites and for statistical and routine system maintenance purposes, we may automatically collect statistical and/or non-personal information from you through the use of cookies and web beacons as described further below. We also collect information, including personal information, provided by visitors through their interactions with our websites or that is shared through our websites. “Personal information” is data that reasonably can be used to identify an individual.

  • Information that you provide to us by completing forms or surveys on our websites.  This includes information provided at the time of registering to attend FinRegLab-related events, registering for access to our reports, subscribing to newsletters, updates and other communications or submitting questions, comments or requests through our “Contact us” form.  This information may include your contact details, name, email address, mailing address and phone number, as well as data about you that you provide in a comment or request.
  • Information that you share through our websites by using our services (such as bulletin boards, blogs or chat rooms on our website), including any personal information in the data that you share or information shared with others on our websites;
  • Statistical and/or non-personal information about your interaction with our websites and services, including home server domain name, IP address, repository ID, geographic location, license information and type of computer, operating system and web browser used to access our websites;
  • Information we receive from third party search engines relating to your search activity;
  • Statistical and/or non-personal details of your visits to our websites including, but not limited to, traffic data, location data, weblogs and other communication data, and the pages and resources that you access, including the date of access;

How We Use Personal Information

Data collected by FinRegLab will be used by us primarily for the purposes for which it was collected or submitted and consistent with the way in which it was received.  For example, the information we collect may be used in:

  • providing, maintaining, evaluating and improving our websites;
  • processing, fulfilling and following-up on your questions, comments and requests through our “Contact us” form or otherwise;
  • sending you newsletters, updates and other communications that you have requested;
  • sending you information about our services, projects and resources;
  • providing services or conducting transactions through our website; and
  • processing, fulfilling and following-up on your attendance at FinRegLab-related events.

Disclosure of Personal Information to Third Parties

We will not sell, share, rent or disclose to third parties any personal information, such as names, mailing address, email addresses, telephone numbers and other information which you voluntarily provide to us, unless we secure your permission to do so, except to:

  • provide the services you have requested;

  • protect or enforce our intellectual property and other legal rights.

Personal information that you provide voluntarily is only available to our employees managing this information and to contracted service providers for the purposes of providing services relating to our communications with you. Names, mailing addresses, e-mail addresses and telephone numbers you provide us may be added to our databases and used for future communications.

We may, from time to time, send you newsletters, updates and other communications regarding our services, projects and other matters. We may work with third-party vendors to provide you with our newsletter and communications services. While these vendors will have access to your personal information in order to provide email services, they are required to maintain the privacy of all information in their control.

Personal Information Shared in Public Forums

We may, from time to time, provide bulletin boards, blogs or chat rooms on our websites. Any personal information you choose to submit in such a forum may be read, collected or used by others who visit these forums, and may be used to send you unsolicited messages. We are not responsible for the personal information you choose to submit in these forums.

Opt-Out Right

You may opt out of having your personal information collected by FinRegLab via online forms, surveys, or sign-ups simply by not completing those materials. You may also opt out after submitting personal information, or to opt out of having your personal information used for certain purposes, such as receiving our newsletters. To opt out, you may contact us at admin@finreglab.org. In addition, you can opt out of receiving FinRegLab newsletters, updates or other emails by clicking “unsubscribe” at the bottom of each email and following the subsequent instructions. You may also request that we remove from our database any personal  information you had previously provided. However, even after you submit a request to delete your information, copies of your information, including, but not limited to name and email address, may be retained by us as backup copies for legal and compliance reasons.

Reviewing, Changing, or Removing Your Personal Information

You may obtain a copy of, and request that we correct errors in, your personal information or cause your personal records to be removed from our database by contacting us via the mailing address or email address listed below. If you do desire to obtain a copy of your personal information, you will be required to provide proof of your identity. We will endeavor to respond promptly to your request.

Links to Third-Party Websites

Our websites may contain links to other websites. We do not endorse, and are not responsible for, the privacy practices or the content of such other websites. We do not review or control such websites and suggest that you review the privacy policies of these websites before or as soon as you access them.

Use of Cookies and Web Beacons

We may use cookies or similar technologies to improve your experience of our websites and services. Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information which are downloaded to your device when you visit a website. Cookies are then sent back to the originating website on each subsequent visit, or to another website that recognizes that cookie. Cookies are useful because they allow our websites to recognize your device and to facilitate and improve your interaction with our websites and our services.

We may also use web beacons (also known as pixel tags) alone or in conjunction with cookies to compile information about your usage of our websites and your interaction with emails from us. A web beacon is an often-transparent graphic image, usually no larger than a 1×1 pixel, that is embedded in a web page or email that can be used to monitor behavior of the user visiting the that web page or receiving the email.

Social Media Widgets

Our websites may include social media features, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media widgets and links to our podcast on SoundCloud or other podcast providers. These features may collect your IP address, which page you are visiting on our websites and may set a cookie to enable the feature to function properly. These social media features are either hosted by a third party or hosted directly on our websites. Your interactions with these features are governed by the privacy policy of the company providing the feature.

Collection of Personal Data from Children

We do not knowingly attempt to collect or use personal information from children. Personal information sent to us, such as an email, which appears to be from a child, will be deleted. We cannot always determine if a visitor to our websites or the sender of an e-mail is a child, but will exert our best efforts to do so. Security and Protection of Personal Information

All personal information you provide to us through our websites is stored on secure servers operated by us or our third party providers. Any payment transactions will be encrypted. In addition, FinRegLab and its business partners enter into confidentiality agreements which require that care and precautions be taken to guard against loss, misuse or disclosure of your personal information. Although we will do our best to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of your data. Any transmission is at your own risk. Once we have received your information, we will employ reasonable procedures and security features to guard against unauthorized access.

Reporting of Data Breaches

We make reasonable efforts to monitor and detect any data breach affecting personal information.  In the unlikely event that a data breach results in the disclosure of your personal information to third parties, we will make all reasonable efforts to inform you.

Amendments to This Policy

FinRegLab reserves the right to change this policy at any time, without notice, by posting the new or revised Privacy Policy on our websites.
